By Wilson Morales of www.blackvoices.com. In what many are hoping is a comeback to the big screen, Wesley Snipes returns to a genre that made him famous. In director Antoine Fuqua‘s (Training Day) ‘Brooklyn’s Finest,’ the lives of three conflicted New York City police officers (Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, and Ethan Hawke) are dramatically transformed by their involvement in a massive drug operation. For Snipes, who plays a paroled drug dealer named Caz, the role is similar to Nino Brown, the character he famously played in 1991′s ‘New Jack City.’ After battling some legal issues, the Orlando, Fla., native, whose most recent films have gone straight to DVD, is ready to get back in the game.

  1. Lenora Dorsey Says:

Great news stories! I had not heard most of them. The story regarding the three teachers that gave students the three pictures of RuPaul, Dennis Rodman and OJ Simpson are warped. It is ashamed that they would do such a thing as to look at these three as people to be proud of and to aspire to be like. They are still being paid while they are off work. Are they African American?

  2. Shack Says:

Story 8 The craziness continues for the Jackson Family – You should do a top ten of the craziest Jackson’s Jermaine would head the list, followed closely by LaToya and so on. The most normal/sane seem to be Mama Katherine,Rebe, Tito & Jackie. Everyone else (except Randy) have issues!

Story 3 – Sad story..thought they were happy

Story 1 – Although not a TP fan, he is to be commeded for such a donation – hope its not wasted!

  3. Leon Says:

No, the teachers are three white males.

  4. Lenora Dorsey Says:

I figured as much. Unfortunately, they most likely have an issue with Black History Month.

  5. Trisha Says:

WEll….The stupidity in the teacher story is obvious when you mentioned they were white. They should have admited their lack of knowledge on the subject of Black History and asked for some help. Or at least come to this site and read a few TopTens.
…..I was going to debate putting Tiger Woods at the #1 spot until I read the Haiti/TP story, reality check. I am glad Tiger is back and Leon,I expect you to have him at #1 new story when he wins his next title, and he will win again.

  6. Leon Says:

Trisha, I’m looking forward to putting in the #1 spot.

  7. Lenora Dorsey Says:

Shack…Jermaine would definitely top the list. I think Marlon would be off the list. Randy had a few issues with domestic violence several years back, but has stayed out of the news since then. :-)

  8. Joi :-) Says:

Hey All! :-) Leon, GREAT LIST!!!

Hmmmmm…. where do I start? Let’s start with the 3 White Teachers, giving the mostly Latino students a picture of O.J., RuPaul and Dennis Rodman. I’m going to need ya’ll to take a breath, cuz we r going under! Then I will bring u back to the top! lol. :-) Ready??? :-)

CONSIDER THIS!!! If it WAS A JOKE, WHO IS LAUGHING NOW? BUT that would be too easy! First of all, with Leon putting the story out there, THERE WILL BE SOME CHANGES!!! THAT IS THE WAY GOD/The Universe WORKS. Externally it may result in a firing or disciplinary action. But what does it do for his soul? that is not for us to know. :-) Now, on to something else to CONSIDER! Keep in mind… Well first let’s go here… We do not know what kind of conversation was going on in those classrooms. These are 1st, 2nd, and 4th Grader’s, WHAT DO THEY KNOW ABOUT Nelson Mandela, and whoever else the “politically correct” people (in SOME opinions) are? What do those Teachers know? Latino kids have Latino parents. What do they know about us? Besides, that’s what made school boring, because, we didnt learn about what I AS A CHILD WAS INTERESTED IN! Kids that little go by what they “see”. What if a child saw RuPaul, D.R. or O.J., on tv before going to school that day. Today just happened to be the day that that is what my “little” mind is curious at 5-9ish years old. What if my dad is a single parent and He LOVE’S O.J. FOR WHAT HE DID ON THE FIELD??? O.J., the baller was different than the O.J. the man. WE DO NOT KNOW! ITS EASY FOR US TO PASS JUDGEMENT. How many of us are going to write a letter to the teacher(s) saying, “man, I love u, because we have the “same Father, now let me show/expose u to us/me”, so that u can NOW come from a place of “wisdom combined with knowledge?” What if the Teacher’s said, “we will let the kids pick the people that they carry”? Now KEEP CONSIDERING!!! If there were any Black Teachers at the school, should they too not be held accountable for NOT SHOWING OR HELPING THE white Teachers? They could SEE that they are white. they cannot see their understandings, and their points of views. it is a circle. we give what we know how to give until we know or somebody shows us better. actually, I’m going to start a new post. its too long!!!! :-) brb…

  9. Joi :-) Says:

I’m baaaackkkkk!!!! :-) Okay, now… WHAT’S WRONG WITH RuPaul? HE DOESN’T LOOK LIKE US?? He was recently on a talk show, and talked about his new book, and some of his points of views. They are similiar to mine. I love that he is “free/confident” enough in himself to do what he wants, and be WHO he WANTS to be. If it makes him happy, it should make us happy. NO MATTER HOW IT LOOKS! How would u feel if he saw u on the street and he didn’t want to talk to u, because U LOOKED THE SAME AS THE CHICK/DUDE THAT JUST WALKED BY? He COULD figure “that chick/dude didn’t have anything meaningful to say, so “visually” I SEE, the same thing, so “I’ll pass”…??? That is not right. We miss “blessings”, because they don’t always resemble what WE FEEL/DEEM appropriate and/or EXPECT them to look like. It’s not about the “packaging”, its about the “package”. I LOVE WHEN PEOPLE EMBRACE THEMSELVES, THAT MEANS THEY CAN EMBRACE ALL OF ME!!! that’s true freedom! That’s love at its purest form! I can also say that I have met D.R., he was very sweet and respectful! I love that if he wants to dye his hair blue, pierce his lip, and or tattoo his whatever, HE DOES IT! THAT is beautiful to me. It’s an expression of him. Of Him/God. I have felt like dying my hair blue, or doing something that others would see as “not right” at one time or another, i just didnt because I WAS AFRAID OF WHAT OTHER’S MIGHT THINK! HE IS NOT!!! (what if me dying my hair blue, reminded me of God’s love for me or served as a “message” for me to continue reaching for the sky?) FOR THAT HE IS A ROLE MODEL. He is also a role model for playing basketball at the highest level, and whatever else he did on the court, during his career. When someone looks at someone as a “role model”, they should consider all of that person, and do/take “what is right for them”. i.e. would we remember D.R. if it werent for his wild style? that’s what seperates him from the rest of the b.ballers that have played before, with and after him. We will know his name forever! :-) Plus, at the end of the day, is it O.J.’s, R.P.’s or D.R. responsibility to be our kids role models? I want him to jump high, and play b.ball (if he chooses), and have freedom of expression like D.R. I also want him to run faster, play harder, and give his heart to the game (if he chooses). Like O.J. did. and I want him to LOVE EVERYONE like RuPaul does. So, yeah, they are role models. Now, with that being said, I also I want him to know what unconditional love looks and feels like. He cannot get that from D.R., O.J. and R.P., cuz they aint in their lives! I am!!! and that starts with his parents/and or family. :-) Peace!!! :-)
