The fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman took place on the night of February26, 2012, in Sanford, Florida. Martin was a 17 year old high school student. On July 10, 2013, a jury acquitted Zimmerman of second-degree murder and of manslaughter. This list of quotes is a tribute to depict the grace and dignity that the parents ( Tracy Martin & Sybrina Fulton) of Trayvon displayed before, during and after the trial.

  1. SIR DUKE Says:

The prosecution did not put on a good case. not to much emotion, which this case had..so what if u base your decision on sympathy and not the law..the law was intended to have sympathy..but why..why would u need to shoot a kid?? werent his screams enough..? were not his screams a sign of retreat or mercy…Zimmerman was never proven to b the voice screaming..this was not a popularity contest to see who got more votes on the voice, the 911 tapes should of been thoughly examined by a skilled Recording Engineer. and broke down in their entirety. the only Justice for Trayvon, Is hell on earth for Zimmerman, he will live w the stigma that comes w blood on your hands, as with OJ

  2. Leon Says:

    Sir Duke, I agree 100%.

  3. Maryann Says:

I am so sorry for the loss of your son, Trayvon Benjamin Martin, I followed this tragedy from day 1 & could not stand to look at that man who deliberately stalked & hunted your son down! It is disgusting that this trial, like many, are always about the accuser never the victim! As a mother myself, my heart aches for you & your family, your son was made out to be this evil person when in all honesty it was this big goon who set out to be a super cop & take down an innocent teenager who just wanted to go back home & watch the 2nd half of the basketball game! Zimmerman was told not to follow your son but he did & got away with murdering an innocent teenager! Shame on our system & the so called jury! May The Lord always be by you & your family to keep you all safe & I know your son is safe in the arms of the angels❤

I am so sorry for your loss and so angry because of the absolute wrong way you lost your son. You have carried yourself with dignity and grace and now by putting your energy toward helping others, you honor your son. Stand your ground laws are just a license to kill and must be repealed all across this country. People need to register and then vote, no matter what road blocks are put in place. As a white American, I am relieved to see so many white Americans and Americans of all races stand united. You will be kept in my prayers, as well as my prayers for our country. And, Cheryl, I also feel sorry for you and will pray for you.

  8. Leon Says:

  14. God-Like Skillz Says:

I live in what is suppose to be a free society… at least based on our Civil Confessions of Faith. I happen to agree with those confessions of faith which are in place to ensure that we all have the right to reach for our ideas of ‘happiness & all that ‘that’ means’ to us as individuals. When viewed from a historical & tradition prespective, this case reflects the division that is still the norm in our country where ideas of what we MUST BE simply because we are wrapped in a certain shade of skin. Had Trayvon been a white kid walking home, I wonder would Mr. Zimmerman have taken the time to call the police and ask them to come and check out what might be someone who could be looking to break into someone home. Maybe people are so mentally weak that they don’t realize that this -ism of race has NO COLOR OR ETHNICITY. His being Hispanic can’t and won’t negate the simle FACT that racism is a state-of-mind. Even WE – Black people here in America – practice intra-racism which is counter-productive to us as a group and/or sub-culture to the mainstream. had Trayvon been a MAN and not a child, it would be the same thing. His death is – in my opinion – a DIRECT RESULT OF HIS BEING BLACK in a Middle Class neighborhood where break-ins had been happening and the assumption Mr Zimmerman had was sthat it must {HAD TO BE} someone Black that was responsible for it. The fact that Mr. Zimmerman had been instructed – by the dispatch – to NOT follow this kid,who was simply on his way home, should have been enough for any SANE PERSON to come to the conclusion that the result of their encounter SHOULD NPT HAVE ENDED IN A DEATH! Period! Let alone a CHILD!!! Had a Black Man – who had called the police to come and check out someone they were unfamiliar with on thier community – followed, got out of his car and ended up shooting a white kid and killed him would NEVER had been acqiitted of what is CLEARLY A CRIME. He would NOT have been allow to use as a defense the ‘Stand Your Ground’ Law. If for no other reason, he had been instructed to NOT follow a person of ‘concern’ – [to prevent that they MIGHT end up in some altercation] – AND, even having been instructed to NOT FOLLOW HIM, Mr. Zimmerman existed his car (for reasons unknown?)already “ARMED” and came into contact with young Mr. Martin!!! Something that should NEVER HAVE HAPPENED under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! He is NOT an Officer of LAW, nor is he employed by the State of Florida in ANY CAPACITY the requires that he act as JUDGE, JURY and certainly not EXECUTIONER of a crimne that’s NOT BEEN COMMITTED. I just wonder if this had been the Son of Cherly – who made these comments here – would she still think that because THE NEWS tends to report the crimes of Black folks as if we are ‘a majority’ in this country, would the death of her own Son be taken so lightly?

  15. Johnny Says:

Actually your all mistaken. This event was a tragedy, though.
If you understand the law(not the emotion) no laws were broken until TM threw the first punch. Doesn’t matter why in the eye of the law(not emotion). GZ felt that his life was in danger(probably so as fat and slow as he is)so he shot in self defense. I don’t like the circumstances either. But nobodies crying for the 2 year old white kid shot in the face by 2 black youths while they robbed his mother.

  16. goodword Says:

check out this amazing music video tribute to Tayvon:

    very nice…

  17. Leon Says:

    What an awesome tribute!
Thank you “good word” for sharing.

  18. Cheryl R Says:

I feel sorry for the other Cheryl. She’s been spoon fed a lot of malarkey and like good crackers lives in a box of sourdough. History is going to repeat itself with people like her buying the bullshit. Let’s get some shoveling done so we can eradicate the evil that still permeated this nation. And I bet you she believes she is better educated than Rachel which may have been so till she opened her mouth. The tragedy is that Trayvon was murdered by a lying coward lacking moral integrity and good sense. Was her father a grand dragon? Probably was.

  19. Keith Says:

It sounds like a LOT of opinions are being stated here and not a lot of FACTS. I keep reading the if GZ had listened and not followed TM like the dispatch had said, Well, the dispatch cannot tell and did not tell him to not follow TM. The dispatch actually asked GZ if he can see where TM is which would lead GZ to believe they wanted him to find where he had gone. Also, it was TM that attacked GZ and hit him in the face and also called him a CREEP ASS CRACKER! So, I ask you bleeding hearts idiots….Who’s is the racist here? Sounds to me like it was TM. Also, based on the evidence presented in the case, it was TM that had a history of violence, hitting others, Etc. also sounds to me like had TM not been shot by GZ it would be GZ lying dead based on what EYE-witnesses stated they heard TM threaten GZ. Also, why does the MSM keep trying to make GZ out to be a WHITE??? He’s not. Sounds to me like justice WAS served and GZ got what he deserved as well as TM. Tragic? Yes. Has TM not attacked GZ he would most likely still be alive today or at the very most, in jail for another robbery. Do you forget? he did have stolen items found on him not but a couple weeks before he was killed. You people need to get off your Sympathy horse and get FREAL!!
    God Bless America!

  20. hhmac Says:

Sadly, the comment about the 2-yr-old white kid shot by black teenagers is a low blow inflicted by those who want anyone crying about the injustice of this case to, as Cheryl put it so very eloquently in her clearly educated and maternal way, “get over it”. But since gunpowder residue has been found on that child’s parents’ hands, I guess the case of that 2-year-old’s death hasn’t been fully investigated yet and shouldn’t be thrown up as an example of how awful black people are vs. white people, or how the media isn’t covering the poor white kid’s death, or whatever. So since the investigation has begun to shed a little light on white parents pointing the finger at black kids who may not have killed their child, don’t use that one. Pulling out a monstrous act as an example of how different one group of people is from another is, in itself, monstrous. I guarantee there are just as many people of every race as appalled by that death as are by the death of a boy armed with only Skittles.
And speaking of Skittles, if TM was so vicious in his attack of GZ, can Cheryl or Johnny explain to the class how it is that one of the pictures taken of TM showed him still clutching the aforementioned bag of Skittles in his hand? I guess the 160lb. kid could easily overpower the 220lb. man one-handed because black people can defy the laws of physics. Riiiiiiiight.
And that’s why some members of the jury are lamenting that they couldn’t find GZ guilty, that the evidence just wasn’t presented, althought they were sure he did it. Reasonable doubt had to be recognized, but they also recognize that gnawing feeling in the pit of the stomach.
I applaud the grace and dignity of TM’s parents. I don’t know I would have their kind of spirit. And if Tm’s parents have this kind of decency, how could their son be so very evil as people say? Did the apple really fall that far from the tree?

  21. Leon Says:

Keith, just like many white Americans, you’ve made pathetic attempt to justify the murder of an unarmed black kid.
No matter what kind of twist you put on the tragic incident, the fact remains, if Zimmerman had not shot an unarmed Trayvon, Trayvon would still be alive today.

  22. Leon Says:

Thanks for the profound and well-written comments, hhmac.

  23. Shack Says:

Never “feel sorry” for the unevolved! In fact, lets hope that Cheryl & Keith hook up and reproduce since its been proven that intelligent offspring can come from those with inferior mentalities…
